Our Philosophy.

At Wollongong Cottage Kindergarten we endeavour to create a setting in which children feel comfortable, safe, and secure. We offer an abundance of learning experiences and opportunities for self-discovery, whilst supporting children's individual needs, interests and abilities. 

We believe that all children have the right to be treated equally with respect and we embrace diversity in culture, beliefs, ability, and gender.

Nurture

To provide a safe, warm, well supervised learning environment where children are encouraged to play, learn, experiment, and explore. A child’s sense of ‘belonging’ is established through trusting relationships where children are respected, safe, and secure.

Engage

To enrich children's awareness of the here and now, and to create a sense of connection to the natural world around us. A sense of ‘being’ is established as children begin to know themselves, build and maintain relationships with others, and engage in the various joys and complexities in everyday life.

Create

To provide educational and creative learning experiences based on children’s voices and their observed individual and group interests. We endeavour to create an environment where children are encouraged to express their ideas, culture, and individuality.

Develop

To continually provide a high level of education and care, and a supportive foundation that allows children to learn and grow. A sense of ‘becoming’ is established where children are encouraged and challenged to naturally evolve and participate actively in society.
